The Taliban announced at the ceremony that women should cover their bodies and faces in addition to their eyes and use a headscarf that completely covers their faces. A decision that provoked many reactions.

A spokesman for the Ministry of ‘Promoting the Good and Forbidding the Evil of the Taliban’ said today that it is not obligatory to wear the burqa as a hijab, and that the chador and headscarf that women wear in the villages are acceptable and are considered hijab by the ministry.
